Abstract
Delay in output display seems to have negative association with efficiency in using an information system including a web database. While previous studies have examined the use of feedback to cope with problems of delay, they are outdated. Moreover, there is no published work in the context of web database usage and thai users. As such, this study attempts to investigate effects of delay in output display and use of feedback on (1) correctness of information search tasks and (2) users? perception of delay. Undergraduate students in Chulalongkorn University?s Faculty Commerce and Accountancy participated in lab experiment. The analysis indicated that neither are the impacts of the display delay nor those of the use of feedback on task correctness statistically significant, Yet, the impact the former on perception of delay is statistically significant at a 0.05 level. That of the latter on the same variable is however not significant. Further, the analysis revealed a trace of interaction effect of the display delay and the use of feedback on the perception of delay but that an task correctness was not confirmed. Conceptually, the results to cope more effectively with the software development.
